- Photos on EarthPhotos.com are arranged into Galleries by topics, like "landscapes" and "food." The newest category is High Dynamic Range.
- Photos are also categorized by country in the Countries gallery, and there are now 104 countries and territories listed (five countries are lumped together as former Yugoslavia. We'll break 'em out one of these days).
- Rate photos with the "Thumbs Up" and "Thumbs Down" icons that appear when you mouse over an individual photo. Photos with the most votes appear in the Most Popular gallery.
- This link will take you to a list of all the searchable keywords on the site, and their relative size shows how frequently they're tagged to photos. If you click one of the keywords listed it'll take you to all the pertinent photos.
We spent some of the previous summer on the road taking pictures, and the results are now all across EarthPhotos.com. The highlight was two days of mountain gorilla trekking in the Parc National des Volcans, in Rwanda.

There are lots of ways to explore EarthPhotos.com. Our web host is SmugMug, and the default viewing style for photos is theirs. You can also see all photos in a gallery as thumbnails, view a slideshow or experiment with four other styles. In each gallery, including every country gallery, you'll see a box that looks like this:
Check out all seven viewing styles. Play with them a while and see which you like best.
This is neat: Click any thumbnail to put it in the main viewing window. Then click inside the main viewing window and you'll get a nice, gorgeous extra large screen shot of that photo alone.
Next up, we're off for our fourth visit to Istanbul, with a side trip to Kiev. We'll take pictures to add to the Turkey Gallery, which is already pretty robust, and we'll flesh out the Ukraine Gallery, which so far only has photos from Odessa.

We did a quick down and back to Panama over the U.S. Memorial Day weekend in May, 2011. The Panama Gallery was then the newest Countries Gallery at EarthPhotos.com.
Our previous trip took us to Finland, the Baltic states, Belarus and the Alps in August, 2010. There are new photos in the Finland, Switzerland and Germany galleries, and new galleries for Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Belarus, which will bring the total number of Countries Galleries up to 104.
In June, 2010 we visited Guatemala and did a quick unplanned trip to El Salvador.
Before that we sailed on the world's last royal mail ship, the RMS St. Helena, traveling up the middle of the south Atlantic ocean from the Namibian port of Walvis Bay to the islands of St. Helena and Ascension, in January 2010. A really tough combination of events starting with the H1N1 flu quarantines in China and followed by unrest in Xinjiang has forced us to cancel our summer 2009 trip to Mount Emei, in Sichuan province China, for a total solar eclipse, then to the legendary weekend market at Kashgar, then into Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. Our substitute photo trip was to Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Broome, Darwin and then acorss the outback to Adelaide, Australia, so there's lots of new content in the Australia Gallery. All the new High Dynamic Range photos we brought back from there have prompted us to organize a new HDR Gallery.
